| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive | ||||||
| 3 | Engineers and Trainmen will celebrate the 150th anniversary of | ||||||
| 4 | the union's founding on May 8, 2013; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Brotherhood was founded in Marshall, Michigan | ||||||
| 6 | by a farsighted group of practical locomotive engineers who | ||||||
| 7 | were among America's labor union pioneers; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The visionary founders of the Brotherhood | ||||||
| 9 | entrusted the leadership of this fledgling organization to the | ||||||
| 10 | capable direction of W.D. Robinson of Detroit, Michigan; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Over a century and a half of dedicated service by | ||||||
| 12 | the Brotherhood to locomotive engineers, the railroads, and | ||||||
| 13 | working men and women everywhere attests to the remarkable | ||||||
| 14 | leadership provided by Mr. Robinson and his successors and to | ||||||
| 15 | the strength of the dedication and loyalty of members of the | ||||||
| 16 | Brotherhood throughout the years; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Today, as a modern national union and a division | ||||||
| 18 | of the Teamsters Rail Conference, the Brotherhood is ably led | ||||||
| 19 | by its President, Dennis R. Pierce, at its headquarters in | ||||||
| 20 | Cleveland, Ohio, and maintains its traditional concern for the | ||||||
| 21 | well-being of those whose labor has contributed, and continues | ||||||

| 1 | to contribute, to our great standard of living; therefore, be | ||||||
| 2 | it

| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 5 | we congratulate the members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive | ||||||
| 6 | Engineers and Trainmen on the 150th anniversary of the union's | ||||||
| 7 | founding and extend our best wishes to them in their future | ||||||
| 8 | endeavors on behalf of working people; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to Paul S. Piekarski, State Legislative Chairman for | ||||||
| 11 | the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen/Teamsters | ||||||
