| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the | ||||||
| 4 | Galena Territory Association on the occasion of the Galena | ||||||
| 5 | Territory being designated as a Certified Community Wildlife | ||||||
| 6 | Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Galena Territory is a 6,800-acre residential, | ||||||
| 8 | recreation, and resort community in Jo Daviess County; the | ||||||
| 9 | Territory includes 1,750 acres of common property, referred to | ||||||
| 10 | as Greenspace, the 225-acre Lake Galena, and 23 miles of | ||||||
| 11 | wilderness trails; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The Galena Territory Association has teamed up | ||||||
| 13 | with the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation to host educational | ||||||
| 14 | events for county residents and has provided educational | ||||||
| 15 | programs on Birds of The Territory, Tree Identification, | ||||||
| 16 | Invasive Plants, and more; the Association hosts several | ||||||
| 17 | community projects, including "Vulture Day", a twice-annual | ||||||
| 18 | roadside and lakeshore cleanup event; the Association has also | ||||||
| 19 | worked to control erosion along creek banks and ravines and has | ||||||
| 20 | initiated numerous ecological restoration projects throughout | ||||||
| 21 | The Territory, improving the habitat of countless insects, | ||||||
| 22 | birds, reptiles, and mammals; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, The Galena Territory Association registered its | ||||||
| 2 | intent to become a Certified Community Wildlife Habitat with | ||||||
| 3 | the National Wildlife Federation in 2009; after completing the | ||||||
| 4 | requirements and documentation in August of 2010, the Galena | ||||||
| 5 | Territory became the 46th Community Wildlife Habitat; the | ||||||
| 6 | Galena Territory is the first such Community in Illinois, | ||||||
| 7 | Wisconsin, or Iowa; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The members of The Galena Territory Association | ||||||
| 9 | serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the | ||||||
| 10 | people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 12 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we congratulate the members of the Galena Territory Association | ||||||
| 14 | on the occasion of the Galena Territory being designated as a | ||||||
| 15 | Certified Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife | ||||||
| 16 | Federation and wish them continued success and happiness in the | ||||||
| 17 | future; and be it further

| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the Galena Territory Association as a symbol of | ||||||
| 20 | our esteem and respect.
