| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maureen | ||||||
| 4 | Wener of the Village of Deerfield, who passed away on June 2, | ||||||
| 5 | 2023; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Maureen Wener was born in Chicago; she earned an | ||||||
| 7 | undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and a | ||||||
| 8 | master's degree from Northeastern University; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Maureen Wener led a tremendous career as a public | ||||||
| 10 | servant, taking her first position in public service as a | ||||||
| 11 | legislative chief of staff in 1999; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Maureen Wener previously served as a trustee and | ||||||
| 13 | president of the Deerfield Library Board, and she also served | ||||||
| 14 | on its Executive Committee; she was instrumental in the | ||||||
| 15 | creation of the Deerfield Public Library 2017-2019 Strategic | ||||||
| 16 | Plan, which enhanced the reputation of the library by | ||||||
| 17 | implementing improvements and innovative services to maintain | ||||||
| 18 | the library as a thriving part of the community; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Maureen Wener additionally served her community | ||||||
| 20 | through her election to the Deerfield Public School District | ||||||
| 21 | 109 Board of Education, where she served as secretary; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Maureen Wener was a mentor and friend to everyone | ||||||
| 2 | who knew her, reforming the community through education and | ||||||
| 3 | her commitment to helping those who needed it most; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Maureen Wener will be remembered as a wife and | ||||||
| 5 | mother who dedicated her life to supporting her family and | ||||||
| 6 | serving her community; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 8 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 9 | we mourn the passing of Maureen Wener and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 10 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 11 | her; and be it further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to the family of Maureen Wener as an expression of | ||||||
| 14 | our deepest sympathy.
