1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, A Freedom of Information request to obtain | ||||||
3 | information about millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded | ||||||
4 | workers compensation settlements paid to prison guards at | ||||||
5 | Menard Prison was submitted to the Department of Central | ||||||
6 | Management Services (CMS) in February, and that information has | ||||||
7 | yet to be obtained; and

8 | WHEREAS, The Attorney General's Public Access Counselor's | ||||||
9 | Office issued a binding opinion, calling for the release of the | ||||||
10 | medical tests held by CMS, the State agency that manages the | ||||||
11 | State employees' workers' compensation program; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Under Illinois law, CMS has 35 days to release the | ||||||
13 | documents or appeal the opinion to circuit court, either in | ||||||
14 | Sangamon or Cook County; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Today, May 23, 2011 is the 35th day since the | ||||||
16 | Attorney General's Office issued its opinion; therefore, be it
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
19 | we urge the Department of Central Management Services to | ||||||
20 | release the information requested in the Freedom of Information | ||||||
21 | Act request; and be it further
