Extends sincere condolences to the families who have lost loved ones in this brutal assault, including the families of the 27 American citizens who lost their lives.

| 2 | WHEREAS, On October 7, 2023, Hamas, a foreign terrorist | ||||||
| 3 | organization, launched a brutal terrorist attack upon the | ||||||
| 4 | civilians of the Republic of Israel; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, This cross-border assault included thousands of | ||||||
| 6 | rockets fired by Hamas into Israel and numerous terrorist | ||||||
| 7 | incursions into the streets and homes of Israeli civilians; | ||||||
| 8 | and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, As a result of this heinous attack, countless | ||||||
| 10 | Israelis have been killed thus far, thousands more have been | ||||||
| 11 | wounded, and more than one hundred Israelis and foreign | ||||||
| 12 | nationals, including U.S. citizens, have been abducted and | ||||||
| 13 | brutalized by Hamas terrorists, including reported rapes, | ||||||
| 14 | torture, and murders of abducted civilians; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, As of October 11, 2023, U.S. officials have | ||||||
| 16 | reported that at least 27 American citizens have been killed | ||||||
| 17 | in the brutal assault; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Numerous international news organizations have | ||||||
| 19 | detailed the brutal slaughter of Israeli women, including the | ||||||
| 20 | sickening murder of children and infants; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Continued prayers are offered to those abducted | ||||||
| 2 | civilians, including those American citizens and their | ||||||
| 3 | families; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The attack follows countless other terrorist acts | ||||||
| 5 | by Hamas against the Republic of Israel and its Jewish | ||||||
| 6 | civilians; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Patriotic Americans are responding to this attack | ||||||
| 8 | by expressing their unwavering support for Israel and Jewish | ||||||
| 9 | Americans; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, In recent days, and even after the horrific | ||||||
| 11 | attack of October 7, 2023, certain politicians and | ||||||
| 12 | organizations have begun to say that "we need to listen to both | ||||||
| 13 | sides" and "we ought not to rush to judgment" and "we need more | ||||||
| 14 | data" and "it's complicated"; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, When armed mobs of terrorists murder and abduct | ||||||
| 16 | innocent civilian men, women, and children, the only people | ||||||
| 17 | who see complications are those who lack moral standards and | ||||||
| 18 | fail to recognize basic human dignity; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 20 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 21 | in response to the heinous Hamas terrorist attack of October | ||||||
