HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate the Glenside Fire
Protection District on the occasion of its 50th anniversary;
and
WHEREAS, The Glenside Fire Protection District was created
in June of 1969 through a referendum approved by the voters of
the Glen Ellyn countryside unincorporated area and the voters
of the Village of Glendale Heights; in October of 1970, a new
fire station was dedicated under the command of the first
chief, Robert Arens; and
WHEREAS, The Glenside Fire Protection District fire
station received renovations in 1984, 1994, and 2004; the 2004
renovation is expected to enable the fire station to serve the
community for the next century; and
WHEREAS, Today, the Glenside Fire Protection District is a
multi-million dollar operation, which protects the 34,000
citizens of the community 24 hours each day, 365 days each
year; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

we congratulate the Glenside Fire Protection District on its
50th anniversary and wish them many more successful years; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the Glenside Fire Protection District as a symbol
of our respect and esteem.
