| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the 67th anniversary of the | ||||||
| 4 | founding of Dave's Supermarket; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dave and Emma Lou "Emmy" Steffen founded Dave's | ||||||
| 6 | Supermarket in 1950 in Fairbury and has been serving the | ||||||
| 7 | community ever since; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Dave's Supermarket is a true family business; Dave | ||||||
| 9 | and Emmy's children, Vicki, Alan, Mark, and Brian are all | ||||||
| 10 | actively involved with the business; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, After 67 years, customer service is still of the | ||||||
| 12 | utmost importance to Dave's Supermarket and it maintains the | ||||||
| 13 | practice of having employees carry out groceries to its | ||||||
| 14 | customer's cars, a practice that most grocery stores have done | ||||||
| 15 | away with; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The deli, bakery, and sit-down area has become a | ||||||
| 17 | popular meeting place for seniors; in addition, the store hosts | ||||||
| 18 | nutritional seminars for customers and employees; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Dave's Supermarket often serves as the first job | ||||||
| 20 | for local teens as they enter the workforce; therefore, be it
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 3 | recognize the 67th anniversary of the founding of Dave's | ||||||
| 4 | Supermarket and we wish them many more successful years; and be | ||||||
| 5 | it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to Dave's Supermarket as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 8 | esteem.
