2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jacqueline Reed on | ||||||
4 | the occasion of her retirement as President and Chief Executive | ||||||
5 | Officer of Westside Health Authority; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed earned her master's degree in | ||||||
7 | social service administration from the University of Chicago; | ||||||
8 | she has over 35 years of experience in social work and many | ||||||
9 | years of experience in community organizing; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed is the founder, President, and | ||||||
11 | former Chief Executive Officer of Westside Health Authority, a | ||||||
12 | 20-year-old community-based organization that seeks to build | ||||||
13 | the capacity of local residents to improve their community by | ||||||
14 | increasing access to quality health care, improve job and | ||||||
15 | educational opportunities in order to create avenues for | ||||||
16 | successful ex-offender reentry, and provide social, | ||||||
17 | recreational, and academic activities for youth; Westside | ||||||
18 | Health Authority's numerous programs, including its Every | ||||||
19 | Block a Village initiative, have helped countless young people | ||||||
20 | achieve their highest potential; and

21 | WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed has been the recipient of numerous | ||||||
22 | awards, including the Chicago Community Trust Leadership |

1 | Award, the University of Chicago Elizabeth Butler Alumni Award, | ||||||
2 | the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation National Leadership Award, | ||||||
3 | the Friends of Sheltered Children in Kenya - Humanitarian | ||||||
4 | Award, the Adoption Worker of the Year Award, and the Chicago | ||||||
5 | Commission on Human Relations Advisory Council on African | ||||||
6 | Affairs Recognition Award; and

7 | WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed has served as a model of hard | ||||||
8 | work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
9 | Illinois; therefore, be it

10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
11 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
12 | we congratulate Jacqueline Reed on the occasion of her | ||||||
13 | retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement | ||||||
14 | years; and be it further
