2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John | ||||||
4 | Robert "Bob" Alewelt of Rochester, who passed away on August 7, | ||||||
5 | 2013; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Bob Alewelt was born on July 11, 1942 in | ||||||
7 | Springfield; his parents were Clarence "Mick" and Betty | ||||||
8 | (Cunningham) Shea; he married Vicki Zaubi on February 12, 1966 | ||||||
9 | in Springfield; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Bob Alewelt attended Feitshans High School in | ||||||
11 | Springfield and Eastern Illinois University, where he lettered | ||||||
12 | in football, wrestling, and track; he later took up the game of | ||||||
13 | golf and passed his love of sports and competitive nature on to | ||||||
14 | his children and grandchildren; and

15 | WHEREAS, Bob Alewelt started his career as a salesman of | ||||||
16 | professional business forms before founding his own company; he | ||||||
17 | then began working for the State of Illinois at the Illinois | ||||||
18 | Department of Public Aid; he then worked at the Illinois | ||||||
19 | Department of Transportation initially as the Bureau Chief of | ||||||
20 | Information Processing until his promotion to Bureau Chief of | ||||||
21 | Personnel; he was serving as Deputy Director of Finance and | ||||||
22 | Administration at the time of his retirement; and

1 | WHEREAS, Bob Alewelt was a member of the Elk's Club, the | ||||||
2 | Eagles Club, and a coffee group; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Bob Alewelt enjoyed playing golf, visiting his | ||||||
4 | second home in Florida, and watching and supporting his | ||||||
5 | children and grandchildren at their sporting events; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Bob Alewelt was preceded in death by his parents, | ||||||
7 | Mick and Betty Shea and Franklin Alewelt; his infant sister, | ||||||
8 | Cheryl Lynn Shea; and his sister, Doreen Geyston; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Bob Alewelt is survived by his wife, Vicki; his | ||||||
10 | children, Brad (Lynn) Alewelt, Leslie "Missy" (Dean) Anderson, | ||||||
11 | and Julie Valentine; his grandchildren, Morgan, Abby, Lindsay, | ||||||
12 | Clayton, Ben, Joe, Ryan, Tom, Anthony, and Gabriella; his many | ||||||
13 | nieces and nephews; and his friend, Jake; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
15 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
16 | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | John Robert "Bob" Alewelt; and be it further
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Bob Alewelt as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | sympathy.
