| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Brown County Middle | ||||||
| 4 | School eighth grade boys basketball team, the Hornets, on | ||||||
| 5 | winning the 2023-2024 Illinois Elementary School Association | ||||||
| 6 | Class 2A State Championship; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Hornets claimed their championship by | ||||||
| 8 | defeating Central A&M Middle School on February 15, 2024 by a | ||||||
| 9 | score of 51 to 33 at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The Hornets compiled a record of 29 wins and 1 | ||||||
| 12 | loss during the course of their championship run; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, The Hornets did not allow more than eight points | ||||||
| 14 | in the first quarter in any of the state tournament games, | ||||||
| 15 | outscoring their opponents 42 to 21; therefore, be it

| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 17 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
