| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Judith Joy on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of receiving the title of Master Editor from the | ||||||
| 5 | Southern Illinois Editorial Association for 2015; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Judith Joy received a master's degree in botany | ||||||
| 7 | from Cornell University; her education more than qualified her | ||||||
| 8 | for the position of farm editor for the Sentinel, which she | ||||||
| 9 | received in 1967; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Early on in her career, Judith Joy found it | ||||||
| 11 | difficult being a woman editor in a male-dominated field, but, | ||||||
| 12 | over time, her knowledge, experience, and passion won the | ||||||
| 13 | hearts of her readers and co-workers; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Judith Joy has worked for the Sentinel for nearly | ||||||
| 15 | 50 years; during her time there, she has been promoted to | ||||||
| 16 | feature editor and has expanded her work through her travel | ||||||
| 17 | segment; in the stories of her world travels, she has been able | ||||||
| 18 | to bring back fascinating photos and details that allows her | ||||||
| 19 | readers to experience many wonders that the world has to offer; | ||||||
| 20 | and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Judith Joy has been a tremendous asset to the | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Sentinel and has inspired readers and helped to pave the way | ||||||
| 2 | for women in her field; she could not be more deserving in her | ||||||
| 3 | being named Master Editor; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 5 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 6 | congratulate Judith Joy on the occasion of receiving the title | ||||||
| 7 | of Master Editor and wish her many more years of success to | ||||||
| 8 | come; and be it further

| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
