2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Patrick | ||||||
4 | Bouvair Owens of Chicago, who passed away on August 18, 2015; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Patrick Owens was born in Chicago on July 15, 1964 | ||||||
7 | to Georgia Mae Dawkins; he attended Jenner Grammar School, | ||||||
8 | where he played the tenor saxophone and community basketball, | ||||||
9 | and graduated from Wells High School; he attended Northeastern | ||||||
10 | Illinois University, where he was a member of the Phi Beta | ||||||
11 | Sigma Fraternity and remained active in the Phi Sigma Alumni | ||||||
12 | Chapter all his life; he married Keteena on August 25, 1990; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Patrick Owens had many career opportunities, | ||||||
15 | including working for Pitney Bowes, Affirmative Insurance, and | ||||||
16 | the City of Chicago; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Patrick Owens was a member of Chicago Fellowship | ||||||
18 | of Friends Church when he was young and of Greater New St. | ||||||
19 | James Baptist Church for 20 years later in life, where he | ||||||
20 | served as Chairman of the deacon board and sang in the men's | ||||||
21 | choir; most recently, he was a member of Lifeline Church in | ||||||
22 | Cicero; he and his wife founded Divine Connection Christian |

| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Patrick Owens enjoyed vacationing with his | ||||||
3 | family, frequenting Walt Disney World and Wisconsin Dells; he | ||||||
4 | also enjoyed maintaining family traditions such as | ||||||
5 | Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas Day brunch, baking his "famous" | ||||||
6 | caramel cakes, and hosting the "Patnic"; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Patrick Owens was preceded in death by his mother; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Patrick Owens is survived by his wife, Keteena; | ||||||
10 | his children, Bouvair and Trinity; his 5 brothers, Michael | ||||||
11 | Owens (Sharon), Eugene Owens (Sheltanya), Aaron Owens, Chris | ||||||
12 | Owens (Rose), and John Dawkins; his granddaughter, Mya; his | ||||||
13 | mother-in-law, Hattie "Ms. G" Johnson; his sister-in-law, | ||||||
14 | Kentavia; his niece, Zharia; and a host of nieces, nephews, | ||||||
15 | Godchildren, family, fiends, and the Brothers of Phi Beta | ||||||
16 | Sigma; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
19 | mourn the passing of Patrick Bouvair Owens, and extend our | ||||||
20 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
21 | and loved him; and be it further
