| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Kishwaukee College on its | ||||||
4 | 50th year anniversary and remarkable history of offering career | ||||||
5 | preparation, continuing education, and workforce development; | ||||||
6 | and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1968, Kishwaukee College has | ||||||
8 | grown to offer five transfer degrees and over 70 occupational | ||||||
9 | degrees and certificates to over 9,000 students in the DeKalb, | ||||||
10 | Sycamore, Rochelle, and surrounding Northern Illinois | ||||||
11 | communities; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, The College has worked with local K-12 partners to | ||||||
13 | assist students through elementary, middle, and high school | ||||||
14 | with exposure to a variety of academic pathways and preparation | ||||||
15 | to be college and career ready; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Kishwaukee College offers an ever-increasing | ||||||
17 | variety of programs and services to meet the needs and wants of | ||||||
18 | district residents seeking a university degree, occupational | ||||||
19 | degrees, General Equivalency Diplomas, and English classes for | ||||||
20 | non-native speakers; and

21 | WHEREAS, Over the years, Kishwaukee College has added |

| |||||||
1 | specialized programs to help local business and industry remain | ||||||
2 | competitive in a global economy, training and support services | ||||||
3 | for dislocated workers, a child care center, personal | ||||||
4 | enrichment courses, community involvement, and leadership | ||||||
5 | training; and

6 | WHEREAS, Kishwaukee College partners with other | ||||||
7 | institutions of higher education to provide students with the | ||||||
8 | most efficient and beneficial means to complete their degree | ||||||
9 | program; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Beyond offering courses, programs, and services, | ||||||
11 | the College has increasingly become an integral part of the | ||||||
12 | communities it serves; College employees volunteer on many | ||||||
13 | local boards and organizations, offering their assistance, | ||||||
14 | expertise, and leadership; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Kishwaukee College contributes to a strong local | ||||||
16 | and state economy, fosters higher individual income potential | ||||||
17 | and standard of living, and facilitates business success; | ||||||
18 | therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
20 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
21 | recognize the Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff of | ||||||
22 | Kishwaukee College for their continued achievements in turning |

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
