HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edward
Stanley Wodnicki of Chicago, who passed away on December 12,
2019; and
WHEREAS, Edward Wodnicki was born in Chicago to Stanislaw
and Ludwika Wodnicki on February 24, 1934; he served in the
U.S. Marine Corps and was a Korean War veteran; he married Joan
L. Johnson on October 24, 1956 in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Edward Wodnicki was the retired Deputy
Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department and Executive
Director of the Cook County Sheriff's Department; and
WHEREAS, Edward Wodnicki was preceded in death by his wife,
Joan L. Wodnicki, and his siblings, Joseph, Helen, and Estella;
and
WHEREAS, Edward Wodnicki is survived by his children,
Edward Michael (Nicole) Wodnicki, Susan Tomaselli, and Debbie
(Angelo) Ranieri; and his grandchildren, Rachael "Ree",
Brandon, Jake, Alyssa, and Sara; therefore, be it

HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn the passing of Edward Stanley Wodnicki and extend our
sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
and loved him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Edward Wodnicki as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
