2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Decalogue Society of | ||||||
4 | Lawyers on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of its | ||||||
5 | founding on July 11, 2024; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers was founded in | ||||||
7 | 1934 to fight anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination | ||||||
8 | and intolerance; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers is the oldest | ||||||
10 | Jewish bar association in the United States; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers promotes public | ||||||
12 | education and legal action to protect the rights and | ||||||
13 | privileges of all people; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers has remained | ||||||
15 | ever vigilant against public and private practices that | ||||||
16 | perpetuate racial and religious hatred or are insensitive of | ||||||
17 | the needs of Jewish people; and

18 | WHEREAS, The members of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers | ||||||
19 | participate in social action, render useful community service, | ||||||
20 | and cooperate in movements for the public welfare; and

1 | WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers provides free | ||||||
2 | continuing legal education to assist its members in becoming | ||||||
3 | better informed and skilled lawyers; and

4 | WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers supports student | ||||||
5 | chapters at Illinois law schools to encourage law students and | ||||||
6 | young lawyers to incorporate the ideals of religious freedom, | ||||||
7 | racial tolerance, and public service into their future | ||||||
8 | careers; and

9 | WHEREAS, The members of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers | ||||||
10 | have worked diligently to bring increased dignity and honor to | ||||||
11 | the legal profession for 90 years; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
13 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
14 | we congratulate the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, outgoing | ||||||
15 | President Judge Megan Goldish, incoming President Joel B. | ||||||
