| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Ava Ramsey on being named | ||||||
| 4 | one of the State's top youth volunteers in the 25th annual | ||||||
| 5 | Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, | ||||||
| 7 | presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the | ||||||
| 8 | National Association of Secondary School Principals, were | ||||||
| 9 | created in 1995 to honor young volunteers across America who | ||||||
| 10 | have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their | ||||||
| 11 | communities; more than 29,000 young people across the country | ||||||
| 12 | participated in this year's program; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Ava Ramsey, a resident of Peoria and a student at | ||||||
| 14 | Peoria Christian School, earned this award by volunteering | ||||||
| 15 | hundreds of hours to work with middle school students in her | ||||||
| 16 | community's drama program; her efforts included creating and | ||||||
| 17 | teaching choreography, teaching technique, making props, | ||||||
| 18 | managing lighting and sound, and recruiting other volunteers; | ||||||
| 19 | and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Ava Ramsey is a drama participant herself and was | ||||||
| 21 | inspired to start this volunteer activity by her mother and | ||||||
| 22 | grandmother, who both share her passion for the arts; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength | ||||||
| 2 | of our communities, and the overall vitality of American | ||||||
| 3 | society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young | ||||||
| 4 | people like Ava Ramsey who use their considerable talents and | ||||||
| 5 | resources to serve others; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 7 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 8 | we congratulate Ava Ramsey on receiving a Prudential Spirit of | ||||||
| 9 | Community Award and recognize her outstanding record of | ||||||
| 10 | volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit; we | ||||||
| 11 | wish her many more successful years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
