| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the East St. Louis High | ||||||
| 4 | School football team, the Flyers, on winning the 2019 Class 6A | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois High School Association State (IHSA) Football | ||||||
| 6 | Championship; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Flyers claimed their school's ninth football | ||||||
| 8 | championship with a 43 to 21 win over Prairie Ridge High School | ||||||
| 9 | (Crystal Lake) at Huskie Stadium on the campus of Northern | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois University in Dekalb; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The Flyers compiled a perfect season of 14 wins | ||||||
| 12 | and zero losses on their way to their latest championship; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, The Flyers are led by Head Coach Darren Sunkett | ||||||
| 14 | and Assistant Coach Terry Hawthorne; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, East St. Louis High School is the first IHSA | ||||||
| 16 | school to win the state championship in basketball, football, | ||||||
| 17 | and track and field in the same calender year, putting the City | ||||||
| 18 | of Champions into a class all by itself; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 20 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
