2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Danny | ||||||
4 | Barlow of Chicago, who passed away on July 3, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was born to Marlene Barlow and | ||||||
6 | Rapier "Ray" Bond in Chicago on June 13, 1953; he was the | ||||||
7 | firstborn and the older sibling of four brothers, Samuel, | ||||||
8 | Sylvester, Derrick, and Larry, and two sisters, Cheryl and | ||||||
9 | Erica; he committed to his faith at an early age and was | ||||||
10 | baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church; he attended | ||||||
11 | Forestville Upper Grade Center and Dunbar Vocational High | ||||||
12 | School, participating in such activities as singing, tap | ||||||
13 | dancing, wrestling, and JROTC, where he achieved the rank of | ||||||
14 | lieutenant colonel and was a battalion commander, and he | ||||||
15 | played the piano, the bugle, and the trumpet; and

16 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow married Linda, and they had two | ||||||
17 | children, Danny and William, before the marriage ended and | ||||||
18 | they subsequently became lifelong friends; he married Marie | ||||||
19 | years later, and she brought to the union six children, | ||||||
20 | Tyjuana, Jack, Cyrita, Lamar, Edward, and Lawrence, before | ||||||
21 | they had three children of their own, Vernon, Daniel, and | ||||||
22 | Maria; together, they were the grandparents and | ||||||
23 | great-grandparents of more than 50; and

1 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow worked as a union carpenter with | ||||||
2 | Carpenters Local 1185, initially joining as a teenager and | ||||||
3 | remaining an active member until his retirement decades later; | ||||||
4 | he was passionate about his job and enjoyed laying tile and | ||||||
5 | working on construction sites, becoming well-known in the | ||||||
6 | flooring industry; during his tenure, he helped hundreds join | ||||||
7 | the union, including his sons, grandsons, and numerous | ||||||
8 | friends; he worked as a flooring consultant for multiple | ||||||
9 | businesses until his passing; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was always the life of the party and | ||||||
11 | the heart of any gathering; he enjoyed betting on horses, | ||||||
12 | gambling on casino boats or in Las Vegas, cooking, and | ||||||
13 | grilling; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow will be remembered for his work | ||||||
15 | ethic, his leadership, and his infectious joy; therefore, be | ||||||
16 | it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
18 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
19 | we mourn the passing of Danny Barlow and extend our sincere | ||||||
20 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
21 | him; and be it further
