| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Lauren Witkowski on her | ||||||
| 4 | installation as president of the Women's Bar Association of | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois (WBAI); and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The WBAI was first established in 1914 by nine | ||||||
| 7 | women lawyers practicing in the Chicago metropolitan area; it | ||||||
| 8 | is one of the oldest and largest bar associations in the State | ||||||
| 9 | of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The WBAI serves as an influential voice in | ||||||
| 11 | promoting the interests and welfare of women in the law, | ||||||
| 12 | offering mentorship and networking opportunities, career | ||||||
| 13 | advice, and events that promote and empower women leaders; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Lauren Witkowski is a senior trial attorney with | ||||||
| 15 | Zurich North America; she is based in Chicago and focuses her | ||||||
| 16 | practice in the area of workers' compensation defense, | ||||||
| 17 | representing companies and employers throughout the State of | ||||||
| 18 | Illinois; she earned her undergraduate degree at the | ||||||
| 19 | University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before obtaining her | ||||||
| 20 | Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of | ||||||
| 21 | Law; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Lauren Witkowski hopes to inspire the board of | ||||||
| 2 | directors of the WBAI and looks forward to
fighting for | ||||||
| 3 | legislative action, creating mentorship opportunities, and | ||||||
| 4 | connecting members through
networking, community involvement, | ||||||
| 5 | and CLE programming; she pledges to continue the
WBAI mission | ||||||
| 6 | to promote, foster, advance, and protect the interests and | ||||||
| 7 | welfare of women
and women lawyers; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Lauren Witkowski is driven by a dedication to | ||||||
| 9 | uplifting and encouraging women in the law as they forge their | ||||||
| 10 | own career paths and lives; she is a true leader in the fight | ||||||
| 11 | for greater equality and justice; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we congratulate Lauren Witkowski on her installation as | ||||||
| 15 | president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois and we | ||||||
| 16 | wish her all the best in this new position; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
