2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of David | ||||||
4 | Allen "Dave" Besler of Bloomington, who passed away on May 9, | ||||||
5 | 2024; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler was born in Clinton, Iowa to Edward | ||||||
7 | and Helen (Dobrzeniecki) Besler on November 8, 1960; he | ||||||
8 | married Anne in Bloomington on November 23, 1985; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler worked with the mortgage team at | ||||||
10 | First State Mortgage in Bloomington; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the | ||||||
12 | Mid-Illinois Realtor Association, and the Bloomington-Normal | ||||||
13 | Chamber of Commerce; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler was known as a genuine friend and | ||||||
15 | tireless volunteer; he chaired committees for pancake days and | ||||||
16 | the Mother's Day flower sale in his blue apron, always with a | ||||||
17 | warm smile; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler's personal passions included caring | ||||||
19 | for his home and lawn; he was known for many culinary | ||||||
20 | specialties and for decades he started his day with a morning |

1 | run; he ran four marathons and later half-marathons with his | ||||||
2 | daughters; he loyally supported his Chicago teams, the Bears | ||||||
3 | and the White Sox, and enjoyed time at stadiums with friends | ||||||
4 | and family, especially those where he sat next to his son; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler loved his family and the time they | ||||||
6 | spent together; he especially loved vacations to the beach and | ||||||
7 | was always ready for swimming, digging, and a plate of oysters | ||||||
8 | and a cold beer; he was rich in friendships throughout his | ||||||
9 | life, including friends from his youth, friends made of those | ||||||
10 | with whom he and Anne raised their children, and friends from | ||||||
11 | his church, neighborhood, and community groups; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
13 | his parents-in-law, Frank and Paula Brady; and his niece, Abby | ||||||
14 | Warchal; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dave Besler is survived by his wife of 42 years, | ||||||
16 | Anne; his children, Dr. Margaret (Samuel) Nagel, Patrick | ||||||
17 | (Eileen) Besler, and Colleen (Anthony) Capobianco; his | ||||||
18 | grandchildren, Eleanor and Frederick Nagel, Peter and William | ||||||
19 | Besler, and Louis Capobianco; his twin brother, Dan (Donna); | ||||||
20 | his brothers, Thom (Cindy) and Rich (Judy) Besler; his sister, | ||||||
21 | Cathy (Ed) Warchal; his brothers-in-law, Francis (Mary Jane) | ||||||
22 | Brady and Dan (Teri) Brady; his sisters-in-law, Mary (Gerry) | ||||||
23 | Wahlheim and Julia (Tim) McCarthy; and numerous nieces, |
