2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Chief Luis C. Tigera on | ||||||
4 | the occasion of his retirement after more than four decades of | ||||||
5 | service in law enforcement; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera started his career in law | ||||||
7 | enforcement with the Niles Police Department in June of 1980; | ||||||
8 | he held a variety of positions, including public service aide, | ||||||
9 | communications dispatcher, and reserve officer until he left | ||||||
10 | to join the Illinois State Police in 1985; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera held a number of positions with the | ||||||
12 | Illinois State Police from 1985 to 2004, which included the | ||||||
13 | rank of trooper, sergeant, master sergeant, lieutenant, | ||||||
14 | captain, and major; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera served as the deputy administrator | ||||||
16 | for the Illinois Gaming Board from 2004 to 2008; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera held the rank of region one | ||||||
18 | commander with the Illinois State Police from 2008 to 2009; he | ||||||
19 | served as first deputy director of the Illinois State Police | ||||||
20 | from 2009 to 2011; and

1 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera was named chief of police for | ||||||
2 | Broadview in July of 2011, serving through April of 2017; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera returned to where his career began | ||||||
4 | and became the chief of police for the Niles Police Department | ||||||
5 | in July of 2017, where he led the department through a period | ||||||
6 | of transformative growth and innovation; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera holds a master's degree in police | ||||||
8 | administration from Lewis University and graduated as a member | ||||||
9 | of the 182nd session of the FBI National Academy; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Chief Tigera's career will be remembered for his | ||||||
11 | dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to both his | ||||||
12 | officers and the community, and he leaves behind a legacy of | ||||||
13 | excellence and leadership; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
15 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
16 | we congratulate Chief Luis C. Tigera on his retirement after | ||||||
17 | more than four decades of service in law enforcement, and we | ||||||
18 | wish him the best in all of his future endeavors; and be it | ||||||
19 | further
