1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, St. John's Conclave is the State of Illinois' | ||||||
3 | premier body of the Order of the Red Cross of Constantine; the | ||||||
4 | organization was initially chartered by the Grand Imperial | ||||||
5 | Conclave of the Red Cross of England on February 3, 1872; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, St. John's Conclave was declared to be the | ||||||
7 | Conclave No. 1 of the Grand Imperial Council of Knights of the | ||||||
8 | Red Cross of Constantine and Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of | ||||||
9 | the State of Illinois on August 30, 1872, heading the Empire of | ||||||
10 | the West; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, The membership of St. John's Conclave has | ||||||
12 | included many distinguished citizens who have contributed | ||||||
13 | significantly to Chicago and the State of Illinois, including | ||||||
14 | Chicago City Comptroller Theodore T. Gurney (1820–1886), | ||||||
15 | Chicago Mayor DeWitt Clinton Cregier (1829-1898), Lieutenant | ||||||
16 | Governor of Illinois and Brigadier General John Corson Smith | ||||||
17 | (1832–1910), Chief Executive Officer W. Clement Stone | ||||||
18 | (1902–2002), Governor of Illinois Richard B. Ogilvie | ||||||
19 | (1923–1988), and many other leaders in medicine, law, and | ||||||
20 | business; and

21 | WHEREAS, St. John's Conclave continues in its 150th year | ||||||
22 | of providing fraternal support to the community and following |

1 | out the chivalric traditions of Constantinian Freemasonry; | ||||||
2 | therefore, be it

3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
4 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
5 | we declare December 3, 2022 as St. John's Conclave Day in the | ||||||
6 | State of Illinois; and be it further

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the Recorder Martin P. Starr of St. John's | ||||||
9 | Conclave.
