2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Donald | ||||||
4 | R. "Dick" Ladzinski of Peru, who passed away on December 19, | ||||||
5 | 2022; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski was born to Edward and Sally | ||||||
7 | Florence (Zultowski) Ladzinski in LaSalle on January 20, 1933; | ||||||
8 | he graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1951 and from | ||||||
9 | Illinois Valley Community College; he served in the U.S. Navy | ||||||
10 | Seabees from 1952 to 1956, and he was stationed in the | ||||||
11 | Philippines early on during the Korean War; he married Ruth | ||||||
12 | Wall at St. Joseph's Church in Peru on October 23, 1954, and | ||||||
13 | she preceded him in death on October 29, 1987; he later married | ||||||
14 | Jeanne Thompson at St. Joseph's Church in Peru on November 3, | ||||||
15 | 2006; and

16 | WHEREAS, After he returned from the Navy, Dick Ladzinski | ||||||
17 | joined Carpenters Local 195; during his career, he was the | ||||||
18 | business agent of Union Carpenters 195 in Peru; he was a | ||||||
19 | 66-year member of Carpenters Local 195 and 174; and

20 | WHEREAS, During his career, Dick Ladzinski was | ||||||
21 | secretary-treasurer of the Illinois State Council of | ||||||
22 | Carpenters, and he lobbied for labor in Springfield and |

1 | Washington, D.C.; he prided himself on honesty and no waste in | ||||||
2 | union practices; he fought for worker's safety laws and living | ||||||
3 | wages and to provide a surplus of scholarships to trade | ||||||
4 | schools; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski was a guardian of nature and | ||||||
6 | steward of the land in retirement; he enjoyed hunting, | ||||||
7 | fishing, bird watching, traveling, baseball, photography, | ||||||
8 | cooking, and gardening; his legacy to his children was his | ||||||
9 | love; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski was preceded in death by his | ||||||
11 | parents; his first wife, Ruth Wall Ladzinski; his daughter, | ||||||
12 | Mary Ladzinski; his brother, Edward Ladzinski; and his sister, | ||||||
13 | Carol Ladzinski Newcomer; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Dick Ladzinski is survived by his wife, Jeanne | ||||||
15 | Thompson Ladzinski; his children, Rick Ladzinski, Mike | ||||||
16 | (Kathleen Layden) Ladzinski, Dave Ladzinski, Tim (Dawn Beams) | ||||||
17 | Ladzinski, Susan Ladzinski Blair, Tom (Angela Suarez) | ||||||
18 | Ladzinski, and Julie Ladzinski (Scott) Kelley; his | ||||||
19 | stepchildren, Julie Thompson and Neil Thompson; his 20 | ||||||
20 | grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; and his sister, | ||||||
21 | Dorothy Ladzinski Troup; therefore, be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |

1 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we mourn the passing of
Donald R. "Dick" Ladzinski and extend | ||||||

condolences to his family, friends, and all who | ||||||
4 | knew and loved
him; and be it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
