| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Randy Smithpeters on | ||||||
| 4 | being inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches | ||||||
| 5 | Association (IBCA) Hall of Fame; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Randy Smithpeters began his career with | ||||||
| 7 | Harrisburg High School during the 1993-94 season, a season in | ||||||
| 8 | which the Bulldogs had 23 wins and six losses and went on to | ||||||
| 9 | win a regional title; since then, he has added 11 regional | ||||||
| 10 | championships, six sectional championships, and two | ||||||
| 11 | super-sectional wins; he has led Harrisburg High School to five | ||||||
| 12 | Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Ohio Division | ||||||
| 13 | titles; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, During the 2013-14 season, Randy Smithpeters and | ||||||
| 15 | the Bulldogs complied a record of 33 wins and one loss and won | ||||||
| 16 | the first Illinois High School Association Class 2A State | ||||||
| 17 | Championship, the first championship in Harrisburg High School | ||||||
| 18 | History; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Randy Smithpeters has a record of 447 wins and 241 | ||||||
| 20 | losses in his 24 years as head coach with Harrisburg High | ||||||
| 21 | School; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Combined with his time as head coach at | ||||||
| 2 | McLeansboro High School, Randy Smithpeters has 12 regional | ||||||
| 3 | titles, 12 sectional wins, six super-sectional wins, two | ||||||
| 4 | appearances in the State tournament, and one State | ||||||
| 5 | championship; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Randy Smithpeters and his wife, Patricia, have six | ||||||
| 7 | children, Kyle (Carrie), Kolby (Leigha), Matt (Amy), Ryan, | ||||||
| 8 | Tyler, and Bailey; and three grandchildren, Tobey, Tatum, and | ||||||
| 9 | Sary; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Randy Smithpeters will be honored at the IBCA Hall | ||||||
| 11 | of Fame Ceremony in April of 2017; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 14 | congratulate Randy Smithpeters on being inducted into the | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and we | ||||||
| 16 | wish him many more successful years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to Randy Smithpeters as an expression of our esteem | ||||||
| 19 | and respect.
