Bill Title: Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Exempts transportation services, including those transportation services provided by ground ambulance service providers, medi-car providers, service car providers, and taxi service providers, from the State's managed care medical assistance program. Provides that these services shall continue to be paid under the State's traditional fee-for-service program.

1 | AN ACT concerning public aid.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | adding Section 5-30b as follows:

6 | (305 ILCS 5/5-30b new) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 5-30b. Exemptions from managed care; transportation | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | services. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | 102nd General Assembly, the Department shall exempt the | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | following services from the State's managed care medical | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | assistance program: transportation services, including those | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | transportation services provided by ground ambulance service | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | providers, medi-car providers, service car providers, and taxi | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | service providers, as described in subsections (c) and (c-1) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | of Section 5-4.2. These services shall continue to be paid | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
17 | under the State's traditional fee-for-service program.
