1 AN ACT concerning business.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5Practices Act is amended by changing Section 2X as follows:
6 (815 ILCS 505/2X) (from Ch. 121 1/2, par. 262X)
7 Sec. 2X. It is an unlawful practice for any person to
8promote or advertise any business, product or interest in
9property by means of distributing documents designed to
10simulate checks or other negotiable instruments unless such
11instrument has printed upon both its front and and back, the
12following statement: "This is not a Check". However, it is not
13an unlawful practice under this Section for a person to
14distribute for commercial purposes a sample or specimen of a
15check or other instrument which is used to solicit orders for
16the sale of that instrument and which is clearly marked as a
17non-negotiable sample or specimen.
