Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that a health benefit plan or health carrier, including, but not limited to, a preferred provider organization, an independent physician association, a third-party administrator, or any entity that contracts with licensed health care providers shall not impose any fixed co-payment that exceeds 50% of the total billed charges for health care services provided to an insured or enrolled during a visit to a health care provider.

AN ACT concerning insurance.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding
Section 356z.3b as follows:
(215 ILCS 5/356z.3b new)
Sec. 356z.3b. Health care services copayments. A health
benefit plan or health carrier, including, but not limited to,
a preferred provider organization, an independent physician
association, a third-party administrator, or any entity that
contracts with licensed health care providers shall not impose
any fixed co-payment that exceeds 50% of the total billed
charges for health care services provided to an insured or
enrolled during a visit to a health care provider.
