1 | AN ACT concerning local government.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | 5-55 as follows:

7 | Sec. 5-55. Duplicate township names. If the
the Secretary | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | of State, on comparing
the abstracts of the reports from the | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | several counties, finds that any 2 or
more townships are named | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | alike, he shall so inform the clerk of the county
which last | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | adopted the name. The county board of that county shall, at its | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | next
meeting, adopt for the township some different name. When | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | the name is adopted,
the county clerk shall inform the | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | Secretary of State as provided in Section
