1 | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
| ||||||
3 | Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given | ||||||
4 | their
lives in service to their communities; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Trooper Richard G. Warner was shot and killed by | ||||||
6 | a suicidal man at Illinois State Police Headquarters District | ||||||
7 | 5 in Lockport on April 21, 1969; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Trooper Warner was a 12-year veteran of the | ||||||
9 | Illinois State Police; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Trooper Warner was | ||||||
11 | survived by his wife and four children; therefore, be it
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF | ||||||
14 | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the | ||||||
15 | section of Illinois Route 53 that passes by Illinois State | ||||||
16 | Police Headquarters District 5 in Lockport as the "Trooper | ||||||
17 | Richard G. Warner Memorial Highway"; and be it further
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| ||||||
19 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| ||||||
20 | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
|

1 | giving notice of the name of
the "Trooper Richard G. Warner | ||||||
2 | Memorial Highway"; and be it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the family of Trooper Warner, the Mayor of | ||||||
5 | Lockport, and the Secretary of Transportation.
