SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Brandon Johnson, the Mayor-elect of the City of
Chicago, will come to the City of Springfield, Illinois, on
Wednesday, April 19, 2023; and
WHEREAS, The Mayor-elect will be in the capital city while
the One Hundred and Third General Assembly of the State of
Illinois is in session; and
WHEREAS, The Mayor-elect has been asked and has agreed to
address a Joint Session of the two Houses; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that the two Houses shall
invite Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson to address a Joint
Session of this General Assembly; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the two Houses shall convene in a Joint
Session on April 19, 2023, at the call of the President of the
Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in the
Chamber of the House of Representatives, for the purpose of
hearing Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson address the
General Assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Mayor-elect Johnson, as a formal expression of
this invitation and of the respect and esteem in which he is
held by the members of the General Assembly.
