2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Valeria M. (Buss) Scarbrough of McHenry, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on December 23, 2016 at the age of 76; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough was born in Chicago to Leon F. | ||||||
6 | and Florence B. (Baranski) Buss on January 29, 1940; she | ||||||
7 | married George Scarbrough in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 7, 1999; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough lived in Wonder Lake from 1952 | ||||||
10 | until moving to the McCullom Lake area of McHenry in 1964; she | ||||||
11 | worked as a secretary for the McHenry County Sheriff's | ||||||
12 | department for 13 years, retiring in December of 1989; for | ||||||
13 | eight years, she was also a waitress at the former Whale's Tail | ||||||
14 | restaurant in McHenry; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough was a member of The Church of | ||||||
16 | Holy Apostles in McHenry; she was a former member of St. | ||||||
17 | Patrick's Church in McHenry; for a number of years in the | ||||||
18 | 1970s, she was also a member of the McCullom Lake Beach Gals; | ||||||
19 | she enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, gardening, and traveling; | ||||||
20 | and

21 | WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough was preceded in death by her |

1 | parents; her brothers, Leon and Jim Mulholland; and her | ||||||
2 | brother-in-law, Al Krepel; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough is survived by her husband, | ||||||
4 | George Scarbrough; her six children, Laura (Fred) O'Halleran, | ||||||
5 | Ramona Bitterman, Kathleen (Michael) McDow, Daniel Bitterman, | ||||||
6 | Deborah (John) Rothlisberger, and Angela (Shaun) Kirkwood; her | ||||||
7 | grandchildren, Autumn and Alec O'Halleran, Christopher | ||||||
8 | Bitterman, Justes, Bradlee, and Rachael McDow, Hailey | ||||||
9 | Bitterman, Nicholas Larsen, Rebecca Rothlisberger, and Alexis | ||||||
10 | Lowitzki; her five great-grandchildren; her stepchildren, | ||||||
11 | Sherry (Earl) Hucker, and Steven Scarbrough; her | ||||||
12 | step-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, and Nicholas; her | ||||||

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
20 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Valeria Scarbrough, | ||||||
21 | and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and | ||||||
22 | all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| ||||||
23 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

1 | presented to the family of Valeria Scarbrough as an expression | ||||||
