2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Edgar George "Bud" Hoener of Sutter, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on February 19, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was born to George and Freda M. | ||||||
6 | (Hufendick) Hoener on the family farm in Hancock County on | ||||||
7 | August 21, 1934; he graduated as valedictorian of his 8th | ||||||
8 | grade class and attended high school through Christmas | ||||||
9 | vacation of his sophomore year; he served in the U.S. Army from | ||||||
10 | 1957 to 1959, where he was a guard at Spandau Prison; he | ||||||
11 | married Carolyn "Sue" Smyser at the Emerson Baptist Church in | ||||||
12 | Emerson, Missouri on October 20, 1963; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was a farmer for his entire life; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was a member of Bethany United | ||||||
15 | Christian Church in Tioga; in his younger years, he enjoyed | ||||||
16 | going to the Crystal Ball Skating Rink in Carthage and | ||||||
17 | participated in skate shows; he was an excellent woodworker, | ||||||
18 | could play the piano by ear, and was a prolific traveler, | ||||||
19 | visiting all 48 continental states; and

20 | WHEREAS, Bud Hoener valued family as his top priority, and | ||||||
21 | he attended all of his children and grandchildren's sports, |

1 | orchestra, band, and school activities; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
3 | his sisters, Marie (Pete) Frey, Naomi (Little) Griffin, and | ||||||
4 | Pauline Hoener; and his daughter-in-law, Gloria Hoener; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bud Hoener is survived by his wife, Carolyn "Sue" | ||||||
6 | Hoener; his sons, Douglas Hoener and Gregory (Kathy) Hoener | ||||||
7 | Sr.; his daughter, Tammy Hoener; his grandchildren, Bryce | ||||||
8 | (Olivia) Hoener, Allyson (Joshua) Hetzler, Kayla (fiancé, Owen | ||||||
9 | Shelton) Hoener, Michael (Richlyn) Hoener, Gregory (Megan) | ||||||
10 | Hoener Jr., Thomas (Lexis) Hoener, and Amber Hoener; his | ||||||
11 | great-grandchildren, Callum, Liam, Ricky, Bennett, and Ember; | ||||||
12 | and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be | ||||||

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Edgar George "Bud" Hoener and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
17 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
18 | it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Bud Hoener as an expression of our | ||||||
21 | deepest sympathy.
