2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Daniel M. Simatovich of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 13, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Daniel Simatovich was born in Brazil, Iowa to | ||||||
6 | Joseph and Katie Tomich Simatovich on January 30, 1931; he | ||||||
7 | served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 and married | ||||||
8 | Carol J. Wind in Hammond, Indiana on September 26, 1970; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Daniel Simatovich worked at the Mueller-Bahnsen | ||||||
10 | Lumber Co. as a yard foreman, retiring after 32 years of | ||||||
11 | service; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Daniel Simatovich was a member of Sacred Heart | ||||||
13 | Church, American Legion Post 246, the Veterans of Foreign Wars | ||||||
14 | Velie Post 2153, and the Croatian Crest Club, all in Moline; he | ||||||
15 | was also a member of the Croatian Fraternal Lodge 217 in Benld; | ||||||
16 | he enjoyed golfing, fishing in Minnesota, following the Chicago | ||||||
17 | Bears, and watching Notre Dame and Alleman football games; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Daniel Simatovich was preceded in death by his | ||||||
19 | parents; his sisters, Mary Poljak, Frances Meewes, and Ellen | ||||||
20 | Kauzlarich; and his brothers, Joe and Steve Cvitonavich; and

1 | WHEREAS, Daniel Simatovich is survived by his wife, Carol; | ||||||
2 | his nephew, Ron Poljak; and his niece, Jan (Gary) Merridith; | ||||||
3 | therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Daniel M. Simatovich, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
8 | further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Daniel Simatovich as an expression | ||||||
11 | of our deepest sympathy.
