2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Mikel Jay "Mike" Cannon of Oakwood, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on May 9, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to | ||||||
6 | Leland and Dorothy (Seymour) Cannon on February 1, 1943; he | ||||||
7 | married Mary Kay Dodson in Danville on September 14, 1963; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon was a licensed barber and | ||||||
9 | cosmetologist for over 62 years; he loved his work and the | ||||||
10 | opportunity it gave him to talk to people every day; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon committed to his faith when he was 18 | ||||||
12 | years old; he will be remembered for being a wonderful | ||||||
13 | husband, an amazing father, and the world's most fun "Poppy" | ||||||
14 | to his beloved grandchildren; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
16 | and his brothers, Larry Cannon and Steve Cannon; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon is survived by his wife of over 57 | ||||||
18 | years, Mary Kay Cannon; his daughters, Christine (Dan) Schmidt | ||||||
19 | and Cathi (David) Fritz; his grandchildren, Jack Fritz, Lauren | ||||||
20 | Schmidt, Annalise Fritz, and Tyler Schmidt; his dog, Tate; and |

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | Mikel Jay "Mike" Cannon and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
5 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
6 | further

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
