1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Elmer A. Dagenais of Naperville, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 7, 2009; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Elmer A. Dagenais was born in Naperville, grew up | ||||||
6 | in both Naperville and Lisle, and graduated from Naperville | ||||||
7 | High School; in 1939, he married his wife of 59 years, Johanna, | ||||||
8 | who passed away ten years ago; he married his second wife, | ||||||
9 | Marilyn, in 2001; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, He began working with the Kroehler Manufacturing | ||||||
11 | Company in the mailroom at the age of 15 and retired in 1978 as | ||||||
12 | the executive vice president, but remained with the company as | ||||||
13 | a consultant for two years; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, From 1945 to 1946, he served with the United | ||||||
15 | States Army Air Forces in the Pacific theater during World Ward | ||||||
16 | II; after his discharge, he returned to work with Kroehler | ||||||
17 | Manufacturing Company, where over the next 30 years he worked | ||||||
18 | for the product control and traffic departments, moving with | ||||||
19 | his family at various points to help manage its manufacturing | ||||||
20 | plants in New York and California; during his career with | ||||||
21 | Kroehler, Mr. Dagenais served on the board of trustees of | ||||||
22 | Naperville National Bank, Firststar Bank in Naperville, and |

1 | Naperville Financial Corporation; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, He was also a longtime member of Wesley United | ||||||
3 | Methodist Church in Naperville, where he served as a Sunday | ||||||
4 | school teacher for many years; in addition, he served on many | ||||||
5 | local boards such as Edward Hospital, North Central College, | ||||||
6 | and the Naperville YMCA; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Mr. Dagenais is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his | ||||||
8 | son, Douglas; his daughters, Carole Christensen, Donna | ||||||
9 | Dagenais, Judy Ann Hart, JoAnn Kolkay, Marlene Kiefer, and | ||||||
10 | Deborah Longer; his brother, Donald; his sister, Eleanor | ||||||
11 | Haddix; his eleven grandchildren; and his great-grandchild; | ||||||
12 | therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
15 | his family and friends, the passing of Elmer Dagenais; and be | ||||||
16 | it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Elmer Dagenais as a symbol of our | ||||||
19 | sincere sympathy.
