SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Vernon L. Jensen of Woodstock, who passed
away on February 17, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen was born in Woodstock on January 31,
1927 to Forest and Edna (nee Barnard) Jensen; he attended
Woodstock High School before serving in the United States Navy
during World War II; he married Mary Lou Vogel on September 10,
1949 in Greenwood; and
WHEREAS, Upon his return from the Navy, Vernon Jensen
worked with his father at Jensen's Plumbing and Heating; he
built up the company and then purchased the business from his
father in 1972, running it until his retirement in 1994, but
still keeping an interest in the day to day operations; and
WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen was a lifelong member of First
United Methodist Church in Woodstock; he was past President of
the Lake and McHenry County Plumbing Heating Cooling
Contractors Association (PHCC), also serving as past President
of the Illinois PHCC; he was active in the community as a
member of the American Legion and VFW; he was a Shriner and a
member of the Masonic Lodge; he was lifelong Packers fan; in
his retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Arizona with his wife

and many friends, where he attempted to improve his golf game;
he also enjoyed spending time at Lauderdale Lakes with friends
and family and fishing with his wife; one of his greatest joys
was spending time with his grandchildren and sharing in their
accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Mary Lou; his son, Craig Jensen; and his 2
daughters, Susan and Cara Jensen; and
WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen is survived by his son, Allan
(Kathy) Jensen; his grandson, Matthew Jensen; and his
granddaughter, Meghan Jensen; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Vernon L. Jensen, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Vernon Jensen as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
