SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Maxine Althea Keith of Peoria, who
passed away on September 29, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Maxine Keith was born to Martin Daniel and Mabel
Victoria (Engquist) Heindselman in Paxton on December 17,
1924; she married William Edward Keith in New Albany, Indiana
on April 28, 1943; and
WHEREAS, During World War II, Maxine Keith worked at
Caterpillar Inc., where she made parts; and
WHEREAS, Maxine Keith and her husband owned and operated
Viking Catering in Peoria for 40 years; and
WHEREAS, Maxine Keith was a member of First English
Lutheran Church in Peoria, where she was active in the
church's Business Women's Circle; she was also a member of the
Heart of Illinois Via de Cristo; and
WHEREAS, Maxine Keith was preceded in death by her
husband; one infant brother; her brother, Robert Heindselman;
and two sisters, Voda Cochran and Kathleen Kagel; and

WHEREAS, Maxine Keith is survived by her sons, William
(Marsha) Keith and Donald (Brenda) Keith; her daughters,
Rebecca Campbell and Vickie Lewis; and many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and
nephews; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Maxine Althea Keith and extend our sincere condolences to her
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
