SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The member of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Alvin James Schuman of North Aurora, who
passed away on March 4, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Alvin Schuman was born in Elgin on May 27, 1927 to
William and Alvina (nee Lange) Schuman; he served in the United
States Army as a 612th quartermaster; and
WHEREAS, Alvin Schuman worked for Burgess Norton in Geneva
for 42 years; he served as a volunteer fireman for the Geneva
Fire Department for 42 years and for 23 years as a Boy Scout
troop leader for Troop 53 in Geneva; and
WHEREAS, Alvin Schuman was a long-time member of First
Baptist Church of Geneva; he enjoyed camping and fishing; and
WHEREAS, Alvin Schuman was preceded in death by his
parents, and by his brother, Richard; and
WHEREAS, Alvin Schuman is survived by his wife of 65 years,
Rose (nee Bradley); his sons, Steve (Karen), Dennis, and Tom
(Dee); his grandchildren, Matt (Kristie), Eleanor, and Marion
Schuman; his great-grandchildren, Hunter Funk and Riley,
Matthew, Taylor, and Cody Schuman; and his nieces and nephews;

therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Alvin James Schuman, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Alvin Schuman as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
