1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | ||||||
3 | saddened to learn of the death of Helen Heier of Vernon Hills, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on November 26, 2012; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Helen Heier was born in Kansas City on December 6, | ||||||
6 | 1924, to Orpha Chrisman; she married James Heier; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Helen Heier was active in the community, | ||||||
8 | organizing the Vernon Hills Fishing Derby for over 35 years; | ||||||
9 | the tournament was later named in her honor; she was known as | ||||||
10 | the "lunch lady" at Hawthorn Middle School, where she worked | ||||||
11 | for 19 years; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Helen Heier honored this country's veterans and | ||||||
13 | firmly believed in treating them as the heroes that they are; | ||||||
14 | she loved watching basketball games and could hold | ||||||
15 | conversations with the most devoted fans; she was a trivia | ||||||
16 | mastermind and could regularly outsmart the Jeopardy | ||||||
17 | champions; and

18 | WHEREAS, Helen Heier was preceded in death by her mother, | ||||||
19 | Orpha Chrisman and her daughter, Darlene (the late Clair) | ||||||
20 | Rairigh; and

1 | WHEREAS, Helen Heier is survived by her husband of 67 | ||||||
2 | years, James; her children, Steven (Barbara), Richard | ||||||
3 | (Patricia), and Diana; and her 16 grandchildren and 2 | ||||||
4 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Helen Heier, and we extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
9 | further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Helen Heier as expression of our | ||||||
12 | sincere condolences.
