2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Hjalmar "Lee" Johnson of Milan, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on June 5, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lee Johnson was born to Bernard and Johanna | ||||||
6 | (Fruechte) Johnson in Morrison County, Minnesota on April 23, | ||||||
7 | 1932; after high school and a brief time as a hired farm hand, | ||||||
8 | he served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1956; he married | ||||||
9 | Dorothy Jane Price in 1954; he received a mechanical | ||||||
10 | engineering degree from Pittsburg State College in 1958; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Lee Johnson worked at J.I. Case, Eagle Signal, | ||||||
12 | and Harvest Day Bakery, and he retired as a machinist from the | ||||||
13 | Rock Island Arsenal in 1994; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Lee Johnson enjoyed golfing and, in recent years, | ||||||
15 | keeping fit with daily trips to the YMCA; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Lee Johnson was a devoted husband and father who | ||||||
17 | loved spending time with his family and friends; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Lee Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
19 | his wife; and his brothers, Willard Johnson, Byron Johnson, | ||||||
20 | and Irving Johnson; and

1 | WHEREAS, Lee Johnson is survived by his daughters, Corinne | ||||||
2 | (Ronald) Moron and Jeannine Gothard; his grandchildren, | ||||||
3 | Lindsey (Jason) Launius, Nick (Hannah) Moron, Brett Moron, | ||||||
4 | Jared (Daidre) Gothard, and Sierra Gothard; and seven | ||||||
5 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
