SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Leonard A. Freeman of Havana on June
6, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was born to William and Arnell
(Newsome) Freeman in Batesville, Arkansas on December 17,
1947; he joined the U.S. Army in 1967, serving for nine years;
and
WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman worked for Fornoff Fertilizer for
10 years, and he also worked for Walker Forge; he retired from
Hinkles & McCoy in Decatur; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was a member of VFW Post #6408 in
Havana and Local 51 IBEW in Springfield; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman enjoyed hunting and fishing; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was an amazing father and
grandfather; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman was preceded in death by his
parents and his sister, Sue Richardson; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Freeman is survived by his longtime
girlfriend, Nadine Owens; his daughter, Dawn (Jeremy)
Showalter; his stepson, Mike (Lisa) Belanger; his
grandchildren, Kelsey Mibbs, Levi Mibbs, Jaclyn Mibbs, Jalee
Anderson, Hannah Belanger, Kourtney Showalter, and Kylee
Showalter; his great-grandchildren, Payton Smith and Karter
Showalter; his siblings, Patricia (Aaron) Wilcoxen, Donna
(Lee) DeBolt, and Jim (Vivian) Freeman; and several nieces and
nephews; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Leonard A. Freeman and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
