2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Kenneth L. Manning of Springfield, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on June 8, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Manning was born to Lyle T. and Lois I. | ||||||
6 | Childress Manning in Shelbyville on August 18, 1932; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1951; he attended | ||||||
8 | Brown's Business School in Springfield; he married Roxy Jane | ||||||
9 | Anderson in Petersburg on October 2, 1952; he served in the | ||||||
10 | U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956, where he was stationed in | ||||||
11 | Saudi Arabia during the Korean War; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Manning worked for Marine Bank for 25 | ||||||
13 | years, most recently as assistant vice president; during his | ||||||
14 | tenure, he also served on the financial institution's bowling | ||||||
15 | team; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Manning belonged to several professional | ||||||
17 | organizations; he was a member of the Central Illinois Credit | ||||||
18 | Association, serving as president from 1982 to 1983, and a | ||||||
19 | 30-year member of the Consumer Credit Association, serving as | ||||||
20 | president in 1988; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Manning was a member of Elks Lodge 158 |

1 | and a lifetime member of the Glen Aire Association, serving as | ||||||
2 | president from 1999 to 2009; previously, he was a 20-year | ||||||
3 | member of the Ski and Boat Club, where he dominated as a | ||||||
4 | pitcher in fast-pitch softball; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Manning was very active with his sons' | ||||||
6 | and grandchildren's sporting events, including coaching his | ||||||
7 | sons' baseball teams; he was also an avid fan of the St. Louis | ||||||
8 | Cardinals, the Chicago Bulls, and the Fighting Illini; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Manning was preceded in death by his | ||||||
10 | parents and his brother, Lane Manning; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Manning is survived by his wife of 71 | ||||||
12 | years, Roxy Manning; his sons, Todd (Amaila) Manning and Trace | ||||||
13 | (Patti) Manning; his daughter, Michelle (Dick) Reid; 10 | ||||||
14 | grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ronald | ||||||
15 | (Pat) Manning and Larry Manning; and several nieces and | ||||||
16 | nephews; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Kenneth L. Manning and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
