2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Horn of Garland, | ||||||
4 | Texas, who passed away on October 6, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Betsy Horn was born in St. Louis, Missouri on | ||||||
6 | September 6, 1960 to
Anne and Irv Slate; she graduated from | ||||||
7 | Granite City High
School North, Central Methodist University in
| ||||||
8 | Fayette, Missouri, and Southern Methodist
University Law | ||||||
9 | School in Dallas, Texas; she married Charles Horn in Madison | ||||||
10 | County on July 9, 1988; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Betsy Horn retired from the City of Carrollton, | ||||||
12 | Texas,
where she served as Assistant City Attorney; she was | ||||||
13 | previously employed by the Dallas
Housing Authority, where she | ||||||
14 | served as
General Counsel; she was a member of the
State Bar of | ||||||
15 | Texas and the Supreme Court of
Texas, and was admitted to | ||||||
16 | practice in the United States
District Courts of the Northern | ||||||
17 | and Eastern
Districts of Texas; and

18 | WHEREAS, Betsy Horn was a member of
Woodcreek Church in | ||||||
19 | Richardson, Texas; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Betsy Horn was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
21 | Charles; and

1 | WHEREAS, Betsy Horn is survived by her children, Charles | ||||||
2 | Calvert Horn and Mary Steele Horn; her parents; her brother, | ||||||
3 | Bob Slate,
and his wife, Maryemily;
her mother-in-law, Laverne | ||||||
4 | Horn; her 4 sisters-in-law; her brother-in-law;
and many | ||||||
5 | nephews, nieces, and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
8 | Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Horn, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
9 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
10 | it further

11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to the family of Betsy Horn as an expression of our | ||||||
13 | deepest sympathy.
