2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of John "Jack" Appleman of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on September 16, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jack Appleman was born in Amboy to William and | ||||||
6 | Helen (Jones) Appleman on October 2, 1936; he attended Amboy | ||||||
7 | High School and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1955; | ||||||
8 | he married Julie Morrissey on January 1, 1958; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jack Appleman worked for the United Parcel | ||||||
10 | Service (UPS) for 39 years; at the time of retirement, he held | ||||||
11 | the longest safe driving record for the state of Iowa with 38 | ||||||
12 | years of safe driving; after his retirement from UPS, he | ||||||
13 | barbered part time in Moline and East Moline until 2017; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Jack Appleman joined the Catholic faith while in | ||||||
15 | the Marine Corps and was a member of the Sacred Heart community | ||||||
16 | as an usher and eucharistic minister for over 30 years; his | ||||||
17 | life was an exemplary model of faith and integrity for his | ||||||
18 | children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Jack Appleman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | children, Tony Appleman, Jimmy Appleman, and Judi Sunner; his | ||||||
21 | siblings, William Appleman, Fred Appleman, and Janet Faley; |

1 | and his parents; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Jack Appleman is survived by his wife of 64 | ||||||
3 | years, Julie; his children, Jill (Chris) Appleman-Scott, Jeff | ||||||
4 | (Theresa) Appleman, and Jerry Appleman; his daughter-in-law, | ||||||
5 | Stacy (Luke) Appleman-Steen; 14 grandchildren; and 11 | ||||||
6 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | John "Jack" Appleman and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
11 | further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of Jack Appleman as an expression of | ||||||
14 | our deepest sympathy.
