2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Thomas A. Bump of Silvis, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on September 17, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bump was born to Jay Louis and Myrtle | ||||||
6 | Block Bump in Moline in 1941; he graduated from Moline High | ||||||
7 | School and Illinois State University and completed graduate | ||||||
8 | work at the University of Chicago; he served in the U.S. Army | ||||||
9 | in Vietnam; he married Roswitha Kuhbier in 1977; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bump worked as a high school teacher in | ||||||
11 | the Chicago Public School system for several years; he retired | ||||||
12 | from the Industrial Relations Department at John Deere | ||||||
13 | Harvester; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bump was a member of the Vietnam Veterans | ||||||
15 | of American Post 299; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bump enjoyed traveling, especially to | ||||||
17 | Europe; he also enjoyed hiking and attending his annual | ||||||
18 | fishing trips to Colorado with his friends; he and his wife | ||||||
19 | spent their winters in Florida; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bump was preceded in death by his parents |

1 | and his brothers, Bill and Richard Bump; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bump is survived by his wife of 45 years, | ||||||
3 | Roswitha Bump; his brother, John Bump; his nephew, Jay | ||||||
4 | (Michelle) Bump; his niece, Sandra Boehle; his great-nephews, | ||||||
5 | Joshua, Jacob, and Lucas; his beloved aunt, Eva Steiner; his | ||||||
6 | special uncle, Dr. Kenneth Block; his sisters-in-law, Carol | ||||||
7 | Christiansen and Brigitte Boehle; and his large and loving | ||||||
8 | extended family; therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Thomas A. Bump and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
12 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
13 | further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Thomas Bump as an expression of our | ||||||
16 | deepest sympathy.
