| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Wanda Bernot of Benld, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on April 22, 2024; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot, the daughter of Vernon and Gladys | ||||||
| 6 | (Conner) Huffman, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September | ||||||
| 7 | 7, 1946; raised in Staunton, she graduated from Staunton High | ||||||
| 8 | School; she married Pete Bernot in Benld on February 20, 1965; | ||||||
| 9 | and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot dedicated her time to a career in | ||||||
| 11 | public service, working for the State of Illinois, including | ||||||
| 12 | for the Department of Public Aid as a caseworker and director | ||||||
| 13 | at the Carlinville field office; after retirement, she also | ||||||
| 14 | served as a city clerk for the City of Benld; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot was a member of the Croatian | ||||||
| 16 | Fraternal Union and served on the Gillespie CUSD#7 Site | ||||||
| 17 | Selection Committee for the location of a new elementary | ||||||
| 18 | school; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot never shied away from helping | ||||||
| 20 | people; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot was preceded in death by her parents | ||||||
| 2 | and her husband; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot is survived by her son, Jeffrey A. | ||||||
| 4 | Bernot; her grandchildren, Rylee (Cassidy) Bernot, Peyton | ||||||
| 5 | Bernot, and Ashleigh (Daniel) Feldmann; her | ||||||
| 6 | great-grandchildren, Elexia, Jace, Jax, and Emreigh; her | ||||||
| 7 | sister, Rita Soens; her niece, Sherry (Mike) Warren; and her | ||||||
| 8 | great-nieces, Shelby and McKenzie; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 11 | Wanda Bernot and extend our sincere condolences to her family, | ||||||
| 12 | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
