| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Harold Eugene "Fuzz" Barton of Hartford, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on June 19, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Harold Barton was born to Tillman and Velma | ||||||
6 | (Neisler) Barton on April 22, 1937; he grew up in South Roxana; | ||||||
7 | he graduated from Roxana High School; he served in the U.S. | ||||||
8 | Army, and he was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany; he married | ||||||
9 | Emma Fin in 1962, and she preceded him in death on March 1, | ||||||
10 | 2014; they lived in their first home in Roxana and then moved | ||||||
11 | to Hartford in 1971; he met his companion Loretta O'Neal in | ||||||
12 | 2014; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Harold Barton worked for his father at Barton | ||||||
14 | Lumber Company; he then worked with his brother at Barton | ||||||
15 | Construction; he finished his career in construction with his | ||||||
16 | son, Matt, at BERCO Construction prior to his retirement; over | ||||||
17 | the years, he built many homes, roads, bridges, and utility | ||||||
18 | infrastructures in the River Bend area; and

19 | WHEREAS, Harold Barton was an avid water skier and was a | ||||||
20 | member of the Alton Water Ski Club throughout the 1960s; later | ||||||
21 | in life, he became an avid cyclist, and he rode in the MS 150 | ||||||
22 | Ride with a team of family and friends to raise money for the |

1 | Multiple Sclerosis Society; throughout his life, he enjoyed | ||||||
2 | spending summers on Sanibel Island, Florida with family, where | ||||||
3 | he learned the sport of shelling; alongside his wife, he made | ||||||
4 | many beautiful shell crafts, and they would attend flea markets | ||||||
5 | to sell them; he had many interests, including solving puzzles, | ||||||
6 | eating out, camping, and attending concerts; he loved being a | ||||||
7 | grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren; he was | ||||||
8 | known for his ability to make friends wherever he went, for his | ||||||
9 | ever present smile, and for being a great caregiver; he was an | ||||||
10 | extraordinary man whose generous and caring spirit was a | ||||||
11 | blessing to many; and

12 | WHEREAS, Harold Barton was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
13 | and his wife, Emma; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Harold Barton is survived by his daughter and | ||||||
15 | son-in-law, Stephanie and Terry Griffin; his son and | ||||||
16 | daughter-in-law, Matthew and Barbara Barton; his six | ||||||
17 | grandchildren, Taralei, Marissa and her husband David, Steven, | ||||||
18 | Ethan and his wife Adrianna, Tysen, and Cayden; his companion, | ||||||
19 | Loretta O'Neal; his three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lela | ||||||
20 | Ellis, Marilyn and Jimmy Gebert, Marcia and David Feldman; his | ||||||
21 | brother and sister-in-law, Don and Vera Barton; his many nieces | ||||||
22 | and nephews; and countless other extended family and friends; | ||||||
23 | therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
3 | Harold Eugene "Fuzz" Barton and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
4 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
5 | it further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
