| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Louis "Lou" Rivera Jr. of Silvis, | ||||||
4 | formerly Moline, who passed away on October 31, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lou Rivera was born to Louis Rivera Sr. and | ||||||
6 | Solidad Guerrero in Moline on December 25, 1933; he served in | ||||||
7 | the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, where he was | ||||||
8 | stationed in both California and the Philippines; he married | ||||||
9 | Mary Cervantes in Moline in 1958; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Lou Rivera began a long career as a professional | ||||||
11 | photographer following his military service, working for the | ||||||
12 | Rock Island Arsenal and the Moline Dispatch; after retirement, | ||||||
13 | he continued to work as a self-employed photographer; he was | ||||||
14 | passionate about his profession and strived for perfection, | ||||||
15 | always looking for that perfect shot; and

16 | WHEREAS, Lou Rivera enjoyed life; in his early years, he | ||||||
17 | became an accomplished racquetball player; he loved dancing, | ||||||
18 | listening to live music, and becoming a foster parent to all of | ||||||
19 | the neighborhood animals; he also loved movies and art; he | ||||||
20 | played the ukulele and harmonica, and he became an expert in | ||||||
21 | the art of boomerang throwing; and

1 | WHEREAS, Lou Rivera was preceded in death by his siblings, | ||||||
2 | Delores Rivera, Mario Guerrero, and Louise Chedister; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Lou Rivera is survived by his daughter, Martine | ||||||
4 | (Chris) Van Speybroeck; his brothers, Arthur Rivera and Jimmy | ||||||
5 | (Celeste) Guerrero; his sisters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Romano, | ||||||
6 | Mercedes (Bob) Martinez, Jessica Ludway, and Tilly (Jess) | ||||||
7 | Mendoza; therefore, be it

8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
10 | Louis "Lou" Rivera Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
11 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
12 | further

13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
