2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Gregory B. "Greg" Bott of Plainfield, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 7, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Greg Bott was born in Alton to Luriel | ||||||
6 | (Stublefield)
and Eugene Bott on March 13, 1956 and grew up in | ||||||
7 | Brighton; he graduated from Piasa
High School in 1974 and | ||||||
8 | earned degrees in parks and recreation and education from North | ||||||
9 | Central College in
Naperville in 1978; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Greg Bott began his career with the Naperville
| ||||||
11 | Park District in a maintenance position; in 1981, he
joined the | ||||||
12 | Plainfield Park District in the same capacity; he worked his | ||||||
13 | way up to become executive director in
1985 and served until | ||||||
14 | his retirement in May 2013; he always believed in the role that | ||||||
15 | parks and recreation
played in the overall well-being of a | ||||||
16 | community; and

17 | WHEREAS, In 2013, the Plainfield Park District renamed | ||||||
18 | River Edge
Park as the "Gregory B.
Bott Park" in honor of Greg | ||||||
19 | Bott; in 2016, Renwick Community Park was renamed as "Gregory | ||||||
20 | B.
Bott Community Park" in honor of his 32 years of
service | ||||||
21 | with the Plainfield Park District; and

1 | WHEREAS, Greg Bott was a member of the Plainfield Lions | ||||||
2 | Club and
attended Plainfield United Methodist Church and Three
| ||||||
3 | Rivers Church; he was an avid hunter,
fisherman, and | ||||||
4 | outdoorsman; he enjoyed trap
shooting, gardening, playing | ||||||
5 | poker, and spending time at
his cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin, | ||||||
6 | which he called his "life's
dream"; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Greg Bott was the beloved fiance of Misty | ||||||
8 | Bartlett; the loving father
of Bryan and Austin Bott; the | ||||||
9 | loving stepfather of Nina and
Nathan Bartlett; the devoted son | ||||||
10 | of Luriel (Stublefield)
and the late Eugene Bott; the dear | ||||||
11 | brother of Bob (Bev) Bott, Kathy (the late Rocco Goins) Bott, | ||||||
12 | Mary Jane Bott, and the late John
(Sheila) Bott; and the fond | ||||||
13 | nephew, cousin, uncle, great-uncle,
and friend of many, | ||||||
14 | including Mindy Gerrietts; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Gregory B. "Greg" Bott, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
18 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Greg Bott as an expression of our | ||||||
22 | deepest sympathy.
