SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Thais S. Orr of McHenry, who passed away
on November 7, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Thais Orr was born in Chicago on December 14, 1914
to William and Marie (nee Groenemeyer) Schilling; she lived in
Palatine before settling in Round Lake with her husband, Fred
Kurz in 1936; and
WHEREAS, Thais Orr and her husband operated Kurz Machine
Manufacturing in Round Lake for over 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Thais Orr loved music, playing the organ, and
reading poetry; she was a devoted wife, loving mother,
cherished grandmother, and doting great-grandmother; and
WHEREAS, Thais Orr was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband, Fred Kurz; her sister, Dorothy Devermann; her
son-in-law, Kenneth Adams; her granddaughter, Jane; her
grandson, William; and her great-grandson, Lucas; and
WHEREAS, Thais Orr is survived by her two daughters, Joyce
Adams and Joan (James) Adams; her 6 grandchildren, Jay Adams,
Dennis (Kathy) Adams, Christopher (Kristy) Adams, Michael (Lee

Ann) Adams, David (Michelle) Adams, and Joyce (David) Fuller;
her 15 great-grandchildren; and her 4
great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Thais S. Orr, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Thais Orr as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
